The company is preparing to break the landmark sales mark of the Galaxy M series

Samsung said it has sold nearly 60 million Galaxy M series smartphones since 2019. The company expects to surpass that figure by the end of 2025.

Sales Growth and Strategy

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Samsung India chief Akshay S. Rao said the launch of the Galaxy M17 5G model was accelerated due to strong demand for its predecessor — the Galaxy M16 5G. Last year, the model was among the best-selling devices in India in the price range of 10,000 to 15,000 rupees ($120 to $180).

The Galaxy M series has traditionally been aimed at buyers looking for the best combination of performance and value. This remains a key segment for the company in India and other emerging markets, according to a Samsung spokesperson.

Balance between budget and premium devices

Despite its strategy to increase the share of flagships, Samsung has no intention of abandoning the mass price segment. Phones costing up to $180 form a significant part of sales in India, where users value durability and stable performance at a moderate price.

Samsung’s strategy to increase the share of flagships is not going to give up on the mass segment.

Samsung recorded a 40 percent increase in sales of premium devices (priced above Rs. 30,000, or $340) compared to 2024. The Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S25 were particularly successful, with demand surging during India’s holiday sales period.

Device Ecosystem

The company also noted an increase in interest in its ecosystem — Galaxy Watch, tablets and wireless headphones. This, in Samsung’s estimation, indicates the formation of a steady user base that chooses not only smartphones, but also additional branded products.
