Huawei unveiled three new Aito electric SUVs at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich

Huawei showcased three electric SUVs under the Aito brand – the M5, M8 and M9 – at the IAA Mobility 2025 auto show in Munich. These models combine state-of-the-art technology, different types of powertrains and competitive pricing, which could seriously change the European electric vehicle market.
Aito is a joint project between Huawei and Chinese automaker Seres. Seres is responsible for manufacturing the cars, while Huawei is responsible for the brains: the HarmonyOS operating system for multimedia, sensors, electric motors and driver assistance systems. In China, the cars are sold through Huawei’s HIMA network, alongside smartphones and laptops.

Aito M5
The entry-level model in the lineup is a mid-size SUV with a length of 4,785 mm and a wheelbase of 2,880 mm. The design highlights the LiDAR sensor on the roof. The interior features a 15.6-inch center-mounted screen and a digital instrument cluster.
- BEV version: 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor, 83 kWh CATL battery, range up to 602 km (CLTC).
- EREV version: 1.5 liter internal combustion engine works only as generator, 42 kWh battery. There are rear-wheel drive 200 kW (268 hp) and all-wheel drive 365 kW (489 hp) variants.

Aito M8
A full-size SUV that has been a hit in China since its launch in April 2025. It measures 5,190mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,105mm. The interior is available in 5- or 6-seat configurations.
Inside, there’s a techno package with three screens (12.3″, 15.6″, and 16″ for the passenger) and a 68-inch projection AR display.
- EREV: dual-motor all-wheel drive, 392 kW (526 hp).
- BEV: 227 kW (304 hp) rear-wheel drive or 387 kW (519 hp) all-wheel drive options.
- Batteries: 37 to 100 kWh, range of up to 705 kilometers.
- Price: 359,800 – 449,800 yuan (€43,060 – €53,830).

Aito M9
The flagship of the lineup, with a length of 5,230 mm and a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Features unique “glove-shaped” headlights and four LiDARs for autonomous driving systems. The interior also features a triple panel of screens, and 5- and 6-seat versions are available.
- EREV: 1.5L engine-generator, 52 kWh battery, 365 kW (489 hp) all-wheel drive.
- BEV: 390 kW (523 hp) twin-engine all-wheel drive, 100 kWh battery.
- Price: 469,800 – 569,800 yuan (€56,220 – €68,190).
Aito sold 70,025 cars between January and July 2025, confirming strong demand for the brand’s premium electric cars. Judging by the interest of the visitors in Munich, European auto giants will have to reckon with a serious new competitor.
