Google Photos has unveiled new AI features

Google has announced a major update to its photo service, adding artificial intelligence-based tools. Among the key innovations:

1. Function «Photo in video»

• Allows you to create 6-second videos from static images
• Two processing modes available: subtle motion and more pronounced animation
• Works based on Veo 2 model
• Already available to users in the US on Android and iOS

1. Tool Remix

• Instantly transforms photos into different styles: anime, comic, sketch or 3D animation
• Utilizes Imagen model
• Will be available in the app in the coming weeks

1. New tab «Create»

• Centralized access to all creative tools
• Includes both AI features and classic tools for creating collages and videos
• Should be available in August

All AI-generated content will be tagged with a SynthID digital watermark identifying it as AI-generated.

Google emphasizes the experimental nature of the new features and plans to gather user feedback to further improve the service. The update will affect more than 1.5 billion Google Photos users, making advanced AI technology available to a mass audience.

Similar features are coming to YouTube Shorts, which will also get access to the updated Veo 3 this summer.
