Threads: how to download and register in Russia

Threads —is a new app by Meta* Corporation. In a nutshell, it’s a kind of Twitter-like app that’s powered by Instagram*.

The main difference is that the new network focuses on text posts, not photos. However, it is possible to add illustrative content, whether it’s photos or videos.

It’s not clear yet whether the app will be free to work in Russia in the future, but at the moment you can download and use it exclusively with the help of a VPN. The app is already available for download as for iOS and for Android.

As with anything else, you’ll have to sign up first (after you’ve turned on everyone’s favorite VPN for the past year, of course). But if you had an Instagram account*, you can sign in through it, thus synchronizing all your existing data.

Not only in functionality, but also in appearance the new app reminds us of Twitter. Everything is understandable on an intuitive level. There’s a nice little touch «take a break». Threads will remind you every 10 minutes (or whatever time you set) that it’s time to take your mind off your phone and look at the real world.
