PlayStation State of Play: all the announcements for June 2025

The summer season of game announcements has begun. While Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase will take place a little later — as early as this weekend, Sony opened the season with a very interesting PS5 presentation. After all, the second half of 2025 was a bit of a mystery for the company before today’s broadcast. It was already known that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Marathon and Ghost of Yotei would be the biggest upcoming games for the system, but in the 40 minutes of the broadcast, the company showed off a few other new products that many are sure to enjoy.
Beginning with the surprise revival of Lumines, Sony showed off a whole series of trailers. These included long-awaited games like Pragmata and big surprises like Nioh 3. We even got a remake of Final Fantasy Tactics, which probably no one was even expecting.
New rhythm game Lumines Arise

The Lumines series of rhythm games returns this fall. Lumines Arise is the latest game from Enhance, the studio that created Tetris Effect. The cult classic music game gets a psychedelic reimagining, very similar to the Tetris Effect style. The game will be released on PS5 and PlayStation VR2 this fall.
New details about Pragmata

After being announced a few years ago, Capcom’s mysterious Pragmata has finally gotten a new trailer that reveals more details about this sci-fi game. It appears to be a third-person shooter about an astronaut who travels with a little girl named Diana. No official release date has been announced for the game, but Capcom now says that it should arrive on PS5 sometime in 2026.

Romeo is a Dead Man is Suda51’s new game

No More Heroes creator Suda51 is back with a new game called Romeo is a Dead Man. Developed by Grasshopped Studios, the project is a predictably ultra-violent action game with plenty of swords, weapons, and style. It is undoubtedly the work of Suda51. The game is scheduled for release on PS5 in 2026.
Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered

The cult classic strategy game Final Fantasy Tactics is getting a remaster. The project, titled Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, will include both the original 1997 game and a remastered version. The game will be released on PS4 and PS5 on September 30. Pre-orders are available starting today.
Nioh 3 is getting ready to raise hell

The Nioh series is coming back. Koei Tecmo has announced that Nioh 3 will be released in 2026, and has unveiled a new trailer. The trailer was pretty intense and showed brutal battles with huge bosses. The game will have more areas open for exploration, which makes it different from previous games. The demo is available now on PS5.
Debut trailer for 007: First Light

We’ve finally gotten an in-depth look at Io Interactive’s James Bond game, 007: First Light. A new trailer showed off Io’s most cinematic game yet, with an emphasis on stealth and driving. The main gist of the plot — the story of how James Bond became the super spy and the man we know him to be. A release date for First Light has not been announced, but the game will be released in 2026. More details about the project will be released this summer.
Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls

The developers of the Guilty Gear series are back with a new fighting game – and this time it’s centered around Marvel. Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls is a new 2D fighting game that features several characters from the comic book universe. The trailer shows such fighters as Dr. Doom, Storm, Iron Man and many others. The project is a 4 on 4 team fighting game where players can swap characters from a suggested list. Surprisingly, it looks like this will be Sony’s first game created in collaboration with PlayStation Studios. It’s scheduled to launch in 2026 for PS5 and PC.
