It’s September, but before the new iPhones are unveiled, there’s another big event — IFA 2024.&#nbsp;This show — is one of the biggest of the month, with the world’s leading tech brands unveiling all sorts of new products, most of which will be available by New Year’s Eve.
It’s also one of the biggest of the month.
From phones and smartwatches to laptops, robot vacuum cleaners and more —we saw it all in person to separate the interesting from the not-so-interesting. Here’s the first installment of the best and most interesting things to see at IFA 2024.
We’ve got a look at what’s on display at IFA 2024.
Honor Magic V3
The new Honor foldable has arrived in Europe just two months after launching in China. And it has an even more innovative design than its predecessor. The Magic V3 is just 9.2mm thick when folded and weighs — 226g, which is comparable to many conventional phones. It’s the first foldable phone with a design that doesn’t feel somehow…thick or flawed.

The hardware is also strong, with two good displays (6.43-inch on the lid and 7.92-inch inside), strong Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performance, impressive battery life, and fast wired and wireless charging.

The 50MP and 50MP rear cameras with a 3.5x telephoto lens aren’t bad, though the 40MP ultrazoom — is a clear step backward. The artificial intelligence features are not always successful, and the Honor MagicOS shell (based on Android 14) sometimes feels cumbersome. Despite these shortcomings, the Magic V3 — is an outstanding device with a real wow factor.

Conceptual sample at IFA 2024 — Lenovo AutoTwist AI
And finally, a concept we could see on the market in the future. Lenovo’s AutoTwist laptop with various possible use cases is one of the most interesting devices at IFA this year.

The lid can automatically open and close with voice commands or close if you leave the device unattended for safety. A motorized hinge can rotate the screen to follow you around the room, whether you’re making a video call or performing on stage. There are no plans to bring this laptop to market yet, but it’s an interesting technology nonetheless.
The new Shark PowerDetect Pro vacuum cleaner
Shark showed off a new line of vacuum cleaners and robot vacuums at IFA 2024: the PowerDetect Pro. The model that caught the eye — is the PowerDetect cordless vacuum cleaner, which features a floor nozzle with fins that allow it to pick up dust and dirt in both forward and backward motion, making cleaning much faster.
It features the same detection technology that everyone loved about the Shark Detect Pro vacuum cleaner: it reacts to dust spots, corners and edges, and changes in flooring.

TCL 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G
Thanks to its innovative display technology, the 50 Pro Nxtpaper 5G — is one of the most interesting Android phones we’ve seen in a while. With the physical Nxtpaper key, you can switch between the normal display mode with a nice matte finish and Ink Paper Mode and Max Ink Mode depending on what you want to do. Switching is easy, and e-reader mode is great for reading, saves battery life, and even lets you use some apps in this mode.

Withings ScanWatch Nova Brilliant Edition
Withings has introduced the Brilliant Edition of its ScanWatch Nova watch, designed with smaller wrists and women’s style in mind. It’s smaller and lighter than the regular Nova model with a 39mm case, but has all the same sensors and features. The watch is available in silver-gold or titanium-silver and will go on sale in November.

Acer Iconia X12
Acer is aiming for an Apple and Samsung-like evolution with the new Iconia X12 — an Android tablet designed for entertainment and productivity.

The main feature of the tablet — a large 12.6-inch AMOLED panel with 2.5K resolution. It will go on sale in January 2025.

Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360

Honor MagicPad 2
The Honor MagicPad 2 tablet showed at IFA 2024 just how much you can get for relatively little money. Let’s start with the design: the marble-finished back panel looks and feels premium. Honor also managed to strike a great balance —it’s relatively thin (5.8mm) and light (555g) but doesn’t feel flimsy. The 12.3-inch 144Hz OLED screen is a pleasure to use, and no less than eight speakers deliver detailed, room-filling sound.

The combination of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset with 12GB of RAM means the MagicPad 2 is powerful enough for everyday use, though it’ll be interesting to see how it handles gaming. Similarly, the 10,050mAh battery sounds promising, but it remains to be seen how good the battery life is. Nevertheless, the Android MagicOS Honor shell seems much more intuitive on the larger screen, and that price tag makes it a real contender in the mid-range tablet market.
