Galaxy S25 update delayed: only a security patch instead of new features

Users of the flagship series Samsung Galaxy S25 have been waiting for a major update in May 2025, but it looks like they’ll have to wait some more. According to a leak from reliable insider Alfaturk, instead of the promised camera and performance improvements, the smartphones will only get May security patch.
Cameras and Galaxy AI will remain without an upgrade
- improved photo and video quality;
- optimization of system components;
- refinements to Galaxy AI, including features like Photo Assist.
Fresh information from Platform X (formerly Twitter) indicates, however: Samsung has postponed the introduction of these innovations due to unforeseen issues during the testing phase. This is confirmed by internal firmware labeling — instead of the «U2» and «DB» designations, «S3» and «DA» are now used, indicating anon-significant release with no new features.

Samsung plays it safe
The company is known for its pedantic approach to firmware quality. So the delay is likely due to tweaking features and fixing bugs rather than abandoning plans. It’s possible a major update will be released later — in June or July.
In the meantime, Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra users can only expect regular system protection via the «Settings > Software Update» section.
Should we wait for S26?
With the postponement of feature updates, many are wondering: should we wait for the Galaxy S26? It’s too early to draw conclusions, but rumor has it that the next series will once again run on Exynos chips in most regions. That makes the Galaxy S25 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips a more reliable buy at the moment.
