YouTube plans to redesign its TV app

YouTube continues to look for ways to increase revenue, and now changes are coming to the TV app. The company is preparing a major redesign that will make paid movies, shows, and subscriptions more prominent. As a result, YouTube will start to look more like traditional streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+
How will the interface change?
Now, YouTube’s TV app looks like the mobile and web version of the platform. However, after the update, it will be redesigned to promote paid content. Movies, subscription channels and exclusive shows will no longer be hidden in separate sections – they’ll be on the home page, increasing their visibility to users.
In addition, YouTube is introducing a new feature for creators, allowing videos to be grouped into seasons and episodes. This will create a more structured browsing experience and bring YouTube closer to classic video services

What does this have to do with subscriptions?
The redesign coincides with the launch of YouTube Premium Lite, a new subscription for $7.99 per month that removes ads but doesn’t give access to all the features of full YouTube Premium. The move could push users to spend more on additional content, as they’ll already be paying less for basic features.
When to wait for the update?
YouTube has officially confirmed that the new design will arrive in the coming months. The company is clearly looking to solidify its position in the streaming service segment by making YouTube for TV more focused on paid content.
