MWC 2025: All of Samsung’s foldable concepts unveiled at the congress

At MWC 2025 MWC 2025 company Samsung showed off a series of new foldable concepts, many of which feature two hinges. These include the Asymmetric Flip with an elongated clamshell-style screen, Flex S and Flex G with different folding schemes, as well as the Flex Note, which offers a larger display. Samsung also showed a device with Sliding Display – Slidable Solo
Asymmetric Flip – a foldable smartphone with an unconventional design
One of the most interesting devices was the Asymmetric Flip – three-segment smartphone with two hinges. Unlike traditional clamshells, here the screen folds unequally, giving the device an asymmetrical appearance.
When the phone is folded, a small part of the display remains open, acting as a Always-on Display to display the time, date or notifications. How convenient this solution will be in practice remains to be seen, but Samsung is clearly experimenting with new form factors.
Flex S, Flex G, Flex Note and Slidable Solo
These concepts were introduced in two sizes:
- The larger versions resemble tablets and can shrink, but are still quite massive for a pocket.
- Compact versions are more like traditional foldable smartphones, easy to carry.
Flex S and Flex G – different approaches to folding
- Flex S is reminiscent of the Huawei Mate X in that it folds outward, leaving a third of the screen open even when closed.
- Flex G, on the other hand, folds inward, fully protecting the display.
Both devices offer 12.4-inch screen when unfolded, providing a comfortable content experience.
Flex Note – a giant foldable tablet
Flex Note is a huge 17-inch foldable display that resembles a laptop when folded. The concept is reminiscent of the previously introduced “flexible briefcase” but with a more elaborate transformation mechanism.
Slidable Solo – the next-generation sliding screen
Slidable Solo is a sliding device capable of changing the aspect ratio of the screen -from elongated (similar to the Z Fold 6) to wide. When unfolded, it looks like a portable tablet
When can we expect these devices on sale?
All of the models unveiled are still in the prototype stage. Samsung hasn’t revealed plans for mass production, but the Flex S and Flex G look like the most realistic candidates to hit the market. Given the company’s long history of working on foldable devices, it’s possible that we’ll see commercial versions of these concepts in the coming years.
