ZTE teases the camera of its future flagship

At the same time as ZTE prepares for tomorrow’s launch of the Red Magic 8S Pro, the manufacturer is also developing a new camera module that will be used in the company’s future flagship.
Ni Fei, president of ZTE Mobile Devices, has published an image of two camera modules, one belonging to the old ZTE phone and the other to the future model. Both modules have the same size (22.5 x 22 mm), but one clearly has a much larger aperture.
The previous teaser for Nubia’s upcoming flagship showed a close-up of the camera island with two clearly visible captions – “35mm” and “Ultrasensor.” 35mm lenses are commonly used in nubia’s Z-series (and some Axon) phones. The latest example — the nubia Z50 Ultra, released in March.
Ni Fei’s post says the camera goes «beyond an inch». That said, there may be an inaccuracy in the translation, as ZTE does not yet have smartphones with even a 1-inch sensor. Fay’s message probably refers to a wider aperture, allowing the camera to match (or surpass) other cameras with a 1-inch sensor.
It’s unlikely that the smartphone that gets this camera will be the 8S Pro. So more details will have to wait.
