Google has paused the Wear OS 5 update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2

Back in September, Google started rolling out the Wear OS 5 update for the original Pixel Watch and the new Pixel Watch 2. This update promised to bring new features and improvements to enhance the user experience. However, shortly after the update was released, a serious problem arose — many users reported that after installing the update, their watches «froze on a blank screen».
The Pixel Watch 5 update was released in September.
In response to these numerous reports, Google decided to suspend distribution of the update on Sept. 26. Although the suspension occurred weeks ago, Google only confirmed the decision today by publishing an announcement on the Pixel Watch support page. The tech giant assured users that it is working to resolve the issue, saying it plans to resume distributing the update «later this year» once it «fixes the issues it has noticed».
And the update will be released on Sept. 26.

This suggests that Google is actively working to fix the issue, but also implies that Pixel Watch owners may have to wait a while before they can safely install Wear OS 5.
