SpaceX is preparing for its first private spacewalk

SpaceX is about to send billionaire Jared Isaacman into outer space soon. The mission, called Polaris Dawn, is scheduled for Aug. 19. Ilon Musk’s company will conduct the longest mission in its history, sending a crew beyond the International Space Station.

The flight will be carried out on a Falcon 9 rocket. Isaacman will be the first space tourist to venture into outer space. The launch was originally scheduled for July, but was postponed due to logistical difficulties and an incident involving the explosion of another rocket earlier in the month.

This isn’t Isaacman’s first flight on a SpaceX rocket: he’s already orbited in 2021. It’s also not the first time the Polaris Dawn mission has been delayed. When the flight does take place, the crew will fly a route outside of the ISS.
