YouTube Music now has an alternative to Shazam

A new feature on YouTube Music for Android lets you find memorized tracks not only by reference, but also by the user’s humming, whistling, and even mumbling. The Verge journalists tested the innovation and praised the proprietary song recognition algorithm.
The feature is not yet available to all users. You can recognize its arrival by the four vertical bars icon that appears to the right of the voice search icon. According to journalists of The Verge, this service recognizes music “extremely fast” and faster than Shazam. During testing, the algorithm did an excellent job of searching for music tracks by melody (even without words) and successfully identified most of the songs that the reporter was singing and whistling on a flute or mumbling. However, the matches were not 100%: occasionally the service still produced errors.
When the innovation will become publicly available is not yet known.
