YouTube Music has moved search to the bottom bar

YouTube Music has received an update that makes it easier to access search. The search button is now placed on the bottom bar of the app, making it easier and faster to navigate.
Search is closer to the user
The YouTube Music service has been around for 10 years and has become one of the most popular music apps in that time. The new update changes the interface: search has been moved down to the bottom, next to the other main tabs.

This is a solution that many mobile services have previously implemented – the menu items that users access most often are moved closer to the bottom of the screen for thumb control.
According to 9to5Google, the update isn’t available to everyone yet: some users are already seeing the changes, while others will have to wait. You can check for availability by manually updating the app.
What’s changed in the app
The move of the search button has not been limited to the search button. In the update:
- Explore section has disappeared as a separate tab and is now merged with Search;
- double-click gesture for quick keyboard shortcuts within Search;
- search results now include both direct input and YouTube Music selections;
This eliminates the need for users to reach for the top of the screen, speeding up the process of finding their favorite tracks or new selections.
The update isn’t for everyone yet
The feature is rolling out gradually, so most users may have it later. Nevertheless, the YouTube Music update is one step toward simplifying the interface and speeding up access to key features of the service.
