Xiaomi has launched a coffee-flavored smartphone
By ForGeeks Smartphones are becoming more and more monotonous, and manufacturers have to look outside the box to catch the attention of users. Xiaomi decided to stand out with an unusual design move – the new Civi 5 Pro has not only got a stylish look, but also… a coffee flavor.
Coffee aesthetics and eco-friendliness
The company unveiled a version of the smartphone in China called “Iced Americano” that exudes a slight coffee scent. The back panel is made of vegan leather with the addition of recycled coffee grounds. Xiaomi emphasizes that the scent is delicate and won’t bother the user. The model is also characterized by a gold metallic frame.
This design is not only original, but also eco-friendly – the recycled materials and unique texture give the smartphone a special character.
Slim body, strong selfies and Leica cameras
Like the previous models of the Civi series, the novelty is compact – the body is only 7.45mm thick (or 7.65mm with camera), and the “coffee” version weighs 181 grams. In the center of the display is a 50 MP front camera (f/2.0), and at the back – a triple module from Leica:
- 50 MP main Light Hunter 800 (f/1.63)
- 50 MP telephoto lens (60 mm)
- 12 MP ultra-wide sensor
Powerful stuffing and high-end screen
The smartphone features the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, a 6,000mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging. The screen is a 6.55-inch OLED with a resolution of 2,750 × 1,232 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz for excellent clarity and smoothness.
Price and affordability
The Civi 5 Pro went on sale in China on May 22 for a starting price of 2,999 yuan (~$416). Like previous devices in the series, the model is unlikely to be available outside of the Chinese market. Nevertheless, the idea of flavored smartphones looks fresh and could be developed into the company’s other lines.
