X announced secure chat with end-to-end encryption and new features

X has announced the launch of an updated messaging feature called Chat, which is already available on iOS devices and the web version, and is coming soon to the Android platform. In addition, the company is working on a voice memo feature that will allow users to share audio messages.

• Message and file sharing using end-to-end encryption;

• Ability to edit, delete posts or make them disappear;

• Block screenshots and receive notifications when they are attempted;

• No ads and no tracking, which ensures complete privacy.

X has been announcing new chat features for months. Earlier this year, an early version of encrypted messages was released, but by May, work on it was halted due to unspecified technical issues. Now the company says it will remove some of the limitations, and group messages as well as media files can now be encrypted. However, metadata such as recipient information remains unprotected.
