World’s first display with embedded NFC technology unveiled
Chinese company Tianma has officially announced a new advancement in display technology. The manufacturer has unveiled a display panel that incorporates NFC functionality, marking a major step toward creating smaller and more efficient devices. This innovation, the company notes, could have a significant impact on the development of the next generation of smartphones and smart terminals.
Tianma says the new 4.6-inch screen features an advanced pixel coil structure that enables NFC to work up to 3 centimeters away. This allows the user to interact with NFC systems through the screen itself, without the need for direct contact. The panel utilizes common driver circuits, low impedance materials and a time-division algorithm so that touch and NFC functions can operate simultaneously without interfering with each other.

This solution enables convenient multitasking: the user can continue to use the device while performing NFC actions such as payment or authentication. In addition, the screen supports Tianma’s proprietary TED Touch technology, which provides high fidelity and responsiveness even when NFC is integrated.
The design of the new display is highly integrated, which reduces the number of internal layers and helps manufacturers save internal space by making devices thinner. The screen itself now acts as the NFC zone, providing visual uniformity and an «edge-to-edge» image effect.
The new display has a high degree of integration, reducing internal layers and helping manufacturers save internal device space by making them thinner.
It is expected that Tianma’s innovative technology will find applications not only in smartphones, but also in industrial handheld devices, access control systems and smart home interfaces, providing a more convenient and natural interaction between the user and the device.
