Samsung may bring back Exynos in its flagship foldable smartphones

Samsung appears to be preparing the return of its own Exynos chips to its flagship smartphone lineup. This time, it’s talking about foldable models – the first time in the history of these devices.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 may get Exynos 2500
According to a new report, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be powered by an Exynos 2500 processor. This would be a game changer, considering that previously all of Samsung’s foldable smartphones were exclusively powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chips. That said, previous leaks have indicated that the Snapdragon choice will remain in place well into 2025.
Mass production of the Flip 7 will begin as early as next month. Samsung plans to produce 200,000 units by June. It’s expected to be unveiled in July, at the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Z Fold 7 still powered by Snapdragon
Despite rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will apparently retain the use of Snapdragon. According to reports out of South Korea, the smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset – the same one that powers all models in the Galaxy S25 series.

Financial strategy and possible risks
The decision to split the chipsets between the two foldable models has a business rationale. The Galaxy Z Flip has traditionally sold better than the Fold, so moving the most popular model to Exynos will help Samsung cut costs. The question remains, however, whether this will alienate users disappointed with past Exynos, and encourage them to buy the more expensive Fold purely for the Snapdragon.”
