Sony is delaying the release of Xperia 10 VII until October

The highly anticipated Xperia 10 VII, which was supposed to be released at the same time as the flagship Xperia 1 VII in May, will now, according to leaks, not see the light of day until October 2025. This could indicate not only a shift in timing, but also a new strategy for positioning the smartphone in the mid-range segment.
Why Sony is changing plans
Information about the postponement came from two sources at once. One Esato forum member under the nicknameSpektykles listed the launch month as «10 (Oct)». The same date was confirmed by a Reddit user citing the Sony Fans Vietnam community. While there’s no official confirmation yet, all indications are that Sony isrevising its pricing and market strategy for the Xperia 10 VII.
It’s possible that the smartphone will fill the niche previously occupied by the Xperia 5 lineup, which is slowly disappearing from the brand’s current portfolio.
What’s known about the Xperia 10 VII’s specs
According to preliminary leaks, the new product will retain the recognizable 6.1-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio, but will get a 120Hz refresh rate — a first for the Xperia 10 series.
- Chipset: Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 (possibly more powerful if the device does go up in price);
- RAM: 8GB;
- Camera: main module with 50 MP
- Battery: 5000 mAh;
- Physical camera shutter button, a Sony signature feature, is also likely to remain.
If rumors of higher positioning are confirmed, the Xperia 10 VII could become a serious competitor in the sub-$500 to $600 segment, which is currently dominated by devices from Samsung, Xiaomi and Nothing.
