Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will get a 5,000 mAh battery again

Samsung continues to take a cautious approach to batteries in its flagships. According to a leak from a reliable source, the Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t get a significant boost in battery capacity over previous models.
No capacity gain and no charging speed
The Galaxy S26 Ultra, which will be released in early 2026, is highly likely to feature a 5,000 mAh battery – the same one found in the S25 Ultra and other models in the series. The source specifies that even if the capacity is increased, it won’t exceed 5,400 mAh.
In addition, no changes are expected in charging speed: Samsung, according to the leak, will leave the same figure – up to 45W for wired charging. That’s well behind Chinese flagships such as devices from Xiaomi and Oppo, which support up to 120W charging.
Samsung remains cautious amid competitors
Samsung’s cautious battery strategy may be due to the fallout from the Galaxy Note 7 incident. Since then, the company has consistently avoided introducing dense, high-capacity batteries, despite the successes of competitors.

In comparison, Chinese brands already offer devices with battery capacities of up to 7,000 mAh using modern dense batteries. However, they haven’t yet taken significant market share in the US, allowing Apple, Samsung and Google to keep a moderate pace in battery technology development.
Minimal batteries in other models as well
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, unveiled earlier, got a 3,900 mAh battery. Company representatives have already explained this as a decision in favor of a slimmer body. Other manufacturers are following a similar trend: the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to have a battery of just 4,400 mAh.

Apple, for its part, is working on the iPhone 17 Air, a slimline model that will also likely use a lower-capacity battery. Instead of increasing physical capacity, Apple is focusing on software optimization with Apple Intelligence.
So the Galaxy S26 Ultra, despite user expectations, is unlikely to bring significant changes in battery life. The company still seems to be banking on stability and reliability rather than experimental solutions.
