Apple is preparing its own search engine and a “personalized” Siri

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to launch its own AI search engine in 2026 to compete with ChatGPT and Perplexity.
There were earlier rumors in the media that Apple could buy Perplexity AI, valued at $18 billion, but Gurman believes such a move is unlikely. The company’s largest acquisition is still its 2014 deal with Beats Audio for $3 billion. Apple has the necessary funds – about $160 billion in reserves – but historically the company has not been prone to expensive purchases.
An entry into the search business could mean abandoning a longstanding agreement with Google that keeps the company’s search engine standard on Apple devices – in Safari on the iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Also, Apple is working on a “personal Siri””that will debut in the spring of 2026 alongside iOS 26.4. The updated voice assistant will be able to analyze your texts, emails, and calendar to answer more complex queries like, “What time does Mom’s plane land?”

Apple had originally even prepared a commercial, but was forced to delay the launch. Amid the delay, Google has already unveiled Magic Cue for the Pixel 10, a feature that anticipates the information you want before the user even asks for it.
