Apple is preparing to update the iPad Pro with an improved cooling system

Consistent iPad upgrades are no longer attractive enough to encourage users to buy new devices every year. However, Apple may have a particularly interesting solution to convince customers to opt for the next iPad Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming model is expected to feature an evaporative chamber that will enhance the cooling system.

The evaporative chamber is already used in the iPhone 17 Pro models, increasing cooling efficiency and improving the devices’ performance. While the iPad’s surface area is larger than the iPhone’s and provides better heat dissipation, the introduction of an evaporative cooling chamber system will significantly improve the tablet’s performance when performing demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing or working with AI applications. Gurman also believes Apple will be able to position the evaporative chamber as one of the features that will make the new iPad models stand out.

Apple previously improved the cooling system in the M4-generation iPad Pro by installing a new copper heatsink. Borrowing the vaporizer concept already used in Samsung and Google smartphones would be the next step. Samsung, for example, has introduced liquid cooling in the Galaxy Tab S9, due out in 2023.

As for the first iPad Pro with an evaporative camera, Gurman suggests that Apple will follow its usual 18-month update cycle. Thus, a fresh model with new cooling technologies could arrive around 2027.
