Motorola Edge 70 Ultra could be one of the first smartphones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor
A reliable Digital Chat Station insider has reported that Qualcomm will unveil its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor later this month. According to him, Motorola will be one of the first companies to release a smartphone on the new platform. While no specific model name was given, the insider revealed the key specs of the device, believed to be part of the Edge 70 Ultra series.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 flagship processor is expected to be unveiled by the end of the month.
In 2023, Motorola unveiled two flagships powered by Snapdragon 8 series chips — the foldable Razr 50 Ultra and the classic Edge 50 Ultra, both powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The following year, the brand released the Razr 60 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but the Edge 60 Ultra was never released.
According to a fresh leak, the upcoming Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, which is rumored to arrive in 2026, will get a thin and light body, a 1.5K OLED display, and a periscopic telephoto camera. While the source doesn’t name the model directly, the description matches the traditional specs of the Edge Ultra lineup.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor is expected to power two Motorola models at once — the Razr 70 Ultra and the Edge 70 Ultra. The Edge 70 Ultra will reportedly get a periscopic camera like its predecessor.
There aren’t many details on the Edge 70 Ultra’s specs yet, but the device is expected to launch in the first half of 2026.
Besides Motorola, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will soon appear in other flagships. These include the OnePlus Ace 6 Pro Max, Vivo S50 Pro Mini, Honor GT 2, Oppo K15 Turbo Pro, iQOO Z11 Turbo, and Meizu 23.
