The rugged Honor X9c with a 6600mAh battery and a 108MP camera has been unveiled

Honor has unveiled an updated version of the X9b model released last year. It’s called the Honor X9c and is positioned as the brand’s most rugged smartphone. The phone is not only drop-proof and waterproof, but also has a larger battery, while retaining a number of features of the previous model.
Honor X9c is the latest version of the Honor X9b.
Honor X9c is certified to withstand drops of up to 2 meters and is ranked number one in the SGS reliability rating. Its body is scratch-resistant and has withstood a test where it was rubbed 3,000 times with metal wool. The phone is able to withstand temperatures from -30°C to 55°C, making it reliable even in extreme conditions.

The X9c also has IP65M protection, where «M» stands for 360-degree water jet protection. While Honor already has IP69-rated devices, it’s the X9c’s combination of features that makes it the most rugged smartphone in the company’s lineup.

One of the major improvements is the 6,600mAh battery – that’s 800mAh more than the X9b’s predecessor, which had a 5,800mAh battery. Charging power has also increased, with the device now supporting 66W, providing up to 26 hours of online video.

The Honor X9c is otherwise similar to the X9b: it has a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1224 x 2700 pixels that supports 10-bit color reproduction and brightness up to 4000 nits. The PWM dimming frequency is 3840 Hz, which helps to reduce eye strain.

The device’s 108 MP main camera uses a 1/1.67″ sensor with 0.64 µm pixels that can be combined 9-to-1 to form effective 1.92 µm pixels, or used for lossless triple zooming. The camera has an f/1.75 lens with optical stabilization and supports 4K video recording. An additional 5MP camera with an ultra-wide lens and a 16MP front camera are located in a new pill-shaped cutout.

The Honor X9c is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, similar to the X9b, and is available in 8/256GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB memory configurations. The phone runs MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14.

Additional features include support for 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and GPS (Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou systems). Despite the lack of a 3.5mm jack, the smartphone has stereo speakers with up to 300% volume boost.
