Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the thinnest foldable smartphone in the world

After being criticized for the bulkiness of its foldable devices, Samsung is ready to get back in the game: the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone, claims reliable insider Ice Universe.

The source says the Z Fold 7 will be just 3.9mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm thick when folded. The device will have a 4,400mAh battery and is rumored to use a new charging and battery layout technology that Samsung will equip other flagships with.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is also expected in July 2025, will get a 4,300 mAh battery. The device will be powered by an Exynos 2500 chipset, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite. Both will come out with Android 16 and One UI 8.0 shell out of the box.

Samsung is banking on a thin and light design rather than maximum specs. This strategy will continue in the base model Galaxy S26, which will also feature a reduced thickness of the body.

The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge soon. The 5.8mm-thick device will get a 6.7-inch screen, a 200+12 MP dual camera, a 12 MP front camera, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage, and a 3,900 mAh battery.
