iQOO to launch 15R with record-breaking support up to Android 20
iQOO, a Vivo sub-brand, has revealed new details about its upcoming smartphone, the iQOO 15R, set to launch on February 24. The standout feature? Unmatched software support: the company guarantees four major OS upgrades reaching all the way to Android 20, along with six years of regular security updates.
According to an official Amazon poster, the phone will run OriginOS 6, based on Android 16. Confirmed software features include seamless cross-platform data transfer between iOS and Android with just one tap, the Origin Island utility for quick app access, file-sharing tools across devices, and screen mirroring.
Under the hood, the iQOO 15R boasts a unique triple-chip setup. Alongside the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, it incorporates a dedicated Q2 supercomputing chip for graphics processing and a separate chip designed to enhance network signals. The company claims its prototype scored over 3.5 million points on the AnTuTu benchmark-surpassing the typical Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 average of around 3.3 million. On Geekbench, the Vivo I2508 model (believed to be the iQOO 15R) logged 2590 points in the single-core test and 8423 in the multi-core.
Part of the design has also been teased: confirmed is a “Dark Knight” color option alongside a blue checkered texture on the back panel. iQOO positions the device as a “compact flagship” aimed at delivering strong everyday performance. Leaks indicate a 6.59-inch AMOLED display featuring a 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, IP68/IP69 water and dust protection, up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, and a triple rear camera setup topped by a 200-megapixel main sensor. The official reveal will take place on February 24, with pre-orders opening the same day.
