Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 may get UFS 4.1 support

The Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 smartphones are likely to feature support for the UFS 4.1 standard. The enhancement will be made possible by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset that Qualcomm announced this week. Makers and users most often discuss processors and cameras, but memory and storage components are just as important. Updating these systems has a direct impact on device speed and power consumption. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 (including the «for Galaxy» version) are expected to receive, supports UFS 4.1 — the new generation of storage that replaces UFS 4.0. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 are expected to receive (including the «for Galaxy» version). This means future Samsung devices will be able to run faster, hold a charge longer, and be more reliable under heavy use. Micron, which has already introduced its own UFS 4.1 solutions and is actively working with Samsung, is being considered as the memory chip supplier for the Galaxy S26 and Fold 8. With the current Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 models running on last-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chips, the move to the new platform looks quite expected. All of this makes it cautiously likely that UFS 4.1 will be one of the key «stealthy» innovations of the upcoming flagships.
