The Mountain View-based company has taken a number of steps to ensure that teens can use its products in an age-appropriate way, including a number of changes for all users under 18. For example, Google recently introduced the SafeSearch Filter, which restricts sensitive advertising content, closes access to age-restricted content on YouTube & Play, and has implemented teen welfare protections on YouTube.

The company’s SafeSearch Filter, which restricts age-restricted content on YouTube, has also been implemented.

Google has also decided to use machine learning to determine a user’s age. The search giant announced this week that it plans to start testing a machine learning-based assessment model. Initially, testing will be limited to the United States, but Google plans to expand the technology to other countries over time.

A machine learning model that Google is set to test this year should help the company determine whether a user is older or younger than 18 to provide them with more age-appropriate content.

Google has not yet explained how this machine learning model will work.So it’s not yet clear whether it will be more effective than the protections the company currently employs.

In related news, Google announced the launch of a new feature to warn you about sensitive content in Google posts. The feature is optional for adults, but mandatory for children and teens. You can control it through Android settings.
