Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is built on the new Oryon architecture

The chipset will be based on the second generation of the Oryon architecture. In Geekbench 6 tests, it scores over 4,000 in single-core mode and over 11,000 in multi-core mode. By comparison, the first Snapdragon 8 Elite scored around 3,100 and 9,800 points respectively, indicating a significant performance boost.

In addition, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will feature 16MB of GMEM cache and a new Adreno 840 GPU. The latter is designed to efficiently handle visually rich apps and demanding games. These improvements also include improved power efficiency and better thermal stability.

Tactical frequency up to 5GHz and 3nm process technology from TSMC

The processor is rumored to be made using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process and has a base frequency of 4.4GHz, which is slightly higher than the 4.32GHz of its predecessor. The maximum frequency can go up to 5GHz. The configuration of cores is 2+6, which is in line with today’s flagship requirements.

First Snapdragon 8 Elite 2-powered smartphones: from Xiaomi to OnePlus

Xiaomi, as in previous years, is likely to be the first manufacturer to introduce smartphones based on the new chip. We’re talking about the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro models. Also expected to be among the first devices are the OnePlus 15, iQOO 15 and 15 Pro, Honor Magic 8, Realme GT 8 Pro, Nubia Red Magic 11 and Redmi K90.

Besides these, the flagship models Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra could get the chipset. It’s possible that the Xiaomi 16 Ultra will move to its own Xring SoC processor, but there’s no official information yet.
