Foton Tunland G9 pickup launches in Russia
Chinese automaker Foton Motor has officially launched its new Tunland G9 pickup in the Russian market. Distribution is handled by MB Rus, the former Russian Mercedes-Benz subsidiary. The entry-level model is priced at 3.64 million rubles.
Here’s what sets the Tunland G9 apart:
- Built on the Tunland G7 platform but features a refreshed design and enhanced equipment
- Powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel delivering 163 hp, paired with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive
- Rated to tow trailers up to 3 tons
Platform and technical upgrades over its predecessor
The new model shares its underlying architecture with the Tunland G7, which has been sold in Russia for the past two years. Despite the shared platform, the G9 boasts a distinctive exterior with chunky G-shaped headlights and a larger grille that clearly differentiates it from the previous version. Inside, the cabin has a more modern feel and the base configuration offers more features.

The engine remains the same: a 2.0-liter turbo diesel producing 163 hp, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and selectable all-wheel drive. This setup is identical to the Tunland G7’s powertrain.
Capabilities and features
The standout upgrade for the G9 is its official certification for towing. The pickup can legally haul trailers weighing up to 3 tons, giving it a clear advantage over its predecessor.
The vehicle measures 5,340 mm in length, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,920 mm tall. The cargo bed’s internal dimensions are 1,520 by 1,540 by 440 mm.

The base trim comes well-equipped with ABS, ESP, six airbags, rear parking sensors, and disc brakes on all wheels. Sales have already begun, with prices starting at 3,640,000 rubles.
