SanDisk announced SSD platforms – TLC NAND and QLC NAND

SanDisk has unveiled two new SSD platforms focused on combining high performance and efficient power consumption. One of the expected innovations will be a drive that maximizes PCIe 5.0 performance with power consumption levels comparable to PCIe 4.0 drives.
According to Tom’s Hardware, the new 2TB SSD will offer sequential read and write speeds of 14,500MB/s and 14,000MB/s, respectively, with only 7W of power. By comparison, most of the most powerful PCIe 5.0 drives of the same size require 10 watts or more at peak load.
The new SSD will be based on TLC NAND and the capacities will range from 512GB to 4TB. It is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025.
SanDisk also announced a 3D QLC NAND-based SSD platform with PCIe 4.0, which will also have a maximum capacity of 2TB. The company plans to accelerate the expansion of QLC NAND-based hardware by 2028, in parallel with the transition to 5.0.
