According to information obtained from the Revegnus on X website, Samsung is working on four new high-end sensors — a 50MP GN6, a 200MP HP7, an unknown 320MP sensor and a 440MP HU1. However, the report claims that none of these sensors will make it into the Galaxy S smartphone and are destined for other manufacturers, and possibly other industries.

Let’s start with the GN6 50-Mp sensor, which is perhaps the most interesting of the bunch, as it will be a 1-inch camera with 1.6µm pixels and will likely compete with Sony’s popular 1-inch IMX989 solution. Samsung’s rumored 50MP sensor will prove too expensive for its own products, so it’s likely to be used by other manufacturers.

On the other hand, the HU1’s 440MP sensor may not be designed for smartphones at all. It may prove more useful in the automotive or industrial sectors.

The 320MP camera may eventually be suitable for the Galaxy S series when development is complete, but according to the source, it will be installed in at least the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Another possibility is that it will be installed in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The 200MP HP7 sensor was originally planned for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as it has slightly more pixels and slightly improved image quality compared to the existing 200MP HP2 sensor in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, as with the 1-inch sensor, it proved too expensive to produce for Samsung to consider it for its smartphones.

The HP2 sensor was also planned for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
