MediaTek unveiled the flagship Dimensity 9500s and the mid-budget Dimensity 8500
MediaTek continues to update its lineup of mobile processors. After announcing the flagship Dimensity 9500 chip last September, the manufacturer unveiled its improved version — the Dimensity 9500s. At the same time, the new mid-range processor Dimensity 8500 was also shown.
Like the original Dimensity 9500, the new Dimensity 9500s features an eight-core All Big Core architecture and is manufactured using a 3nm process. At the heart of the chip is a single main super-performance Arm Cortex-X925 Ultra processor clocked at 3.73GHz, complemented by three Cortex-X4 cores and four performance Cortex-A720 cores.
Graphics are handled by the Immortalis-G925 GPU with support for advanced ray tracing, Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 and Frame Technology 3.0. The chip also includes a flagship neural processor focused on generative AI, logic inference, and multimodal modeling.

The cameras are powered by MediaTek’s Imagiq image processor. It supports real-time motion tracking at up to 30fps, 8K video recording at 60fps with full focus and Dolby Vision HDR, and advanced noise reduction algorithms. The Dimensity 9500s is compatible with cameras up to 320MP resolution and WQHD+ displays with refresh rates up to 180Hz.
The chipset supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, and is equipped with advanced connectivity modules: Wi-Fi 7, 5G with dual active SIM support, Bluetooth 5.4, and a wide range of navigation systems including GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, NavIC, and QZSS. Power efficiency is powered by MediaTek UltraSave 4.0 technology.

At the same time as the flagship, the Dimensity 8500 was unveiled, targeting mid-segment devices. It also uses the All Big Core architecture, but is manufactured using a more cost-effective 4nm process. The processor features eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 3.4GHz.

The Mali-G720 graphics gas pedal is claimed by MediaTek to deliver up to 25% performance boost and about 20% lower power consumption compared to the previous generation. The chip supports quad-channel LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, and features MediaTek’s eighth-generation neural processor (NPU 880), capable of handling most of today’s language and generative models.

Dimensity 8500 gets support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, dual active SIMs on 5G networks and the same navigation systems as the older model. MediaTek’s UltraSave 3.0+ technology is used to save power.
On the multimedia side, the processor supports cameras up to 320MP, 4K video recording at 60fps, and displays with resolutions up to WQHD+ and refresh rates up to 144Hz.
