Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon X Plus processor with a powerful neurochip

The company has unveiled a new Snapdragon X Plus chip, which is a more affordable version of the flagship Snapdragon X Elite chip. The new product is made using a 4nm process and features fast Oryon cores and a powerful neural processing unit (NPU). However, it differs from the older version in some features.
Snapdragon X Plus is a 10-core SoC with a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz with no turbo boost feature. The CPU has 42MB of cache memory. The chip supports LPDDR5X-8448 (135Gbps) RAM modules and features Qualcomm Hexagon neural gas pedal with up to 45 TOPS.

The manufacturer claims the Snapdragon X Plus delivers up to 37% faster processor performance while reducing power consumption by up to 54% compared to competitors (models not specified). The chip also supports various AI features on endpoints, such as Visual Studio Codegen’s Codegen, Audacity Riffusion (audio generation), and OBS Studio’s Whisper (subtitle generation).
The company also touts the following benefits of the Snapdragon X Plus chip: support for on-device local AI models (30 tokens per second), “premium” iGPU, 5G and Wi-Fi 7 support, enterprise-grade security features, support for AV1 encoding and decoding (up to 4K HDR), lossless audio using Snapdragon Sound technology, support for up to three external 4K monitors, and expanded camera support.
