Remedy plans to relaunch Vanguard into a premium game

Remedy Entertainment Plc has announced the relaunch of its cooperative free-to-play multiplayer project, codenamed “Vanguard,” hereafter “Kestrel,” as a premium game with a strong cooperative multiplayer component.

On December 28, 2021, Remedy signed a global agreement with Tencent as its publishing partner to develop Vanguard. Due to the uncertainty of creating a successful game in the rapidly changing free-to-play market and the associated risks, the parties discussed a new direction for the game project, which will be given the new codename “Kestrel.”

Remedy Entertainment is also working on a sequel to Control, its multiplayer offshoot and remakes of the first two installments of Max Payne. The company hasn’t announced any potential release dates yet.
