Fortnite will get in-game age ratings for user-generated content

All content published in Fortnite will soon have to be age-rated, which is designed to protect players from accessing inappropriate content. Epic has partnered with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) to introduce the new system, which will apply to all first and third-party in-game content starting November 14, 2023.

Fortnite creators will have to fill out an IARC questionnaire to be assigned an age rating, which will then be reviewed by Epic moderators. Creators will receive an age rating for the island’s content, as well as regional ratings from the rating organizations participating in IARC, including the ESRB (North America), PEGI (Europe) and ACB (Australia).
The IARC questionnaire will be available on the Creators Portal starting October 16. Any islands not rated by Nov. 14 will be delisted. Epic says the IARC ratings, which range from E to Teen, will be displayed prominently before entering the islands.
According to Epic representatives, the IARC ratings, which range from E to Teen, will be displayed in a prominent place before entering the islands.
When the new parental control options go live, users will be able to set content age limits that will universally block islands that exceed a certain classification, but there will also be an option to unlock specific islands that exceed a set rating threshold using a PIN.
