Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on Xbox later this year

Baldur’s Gate 3 will release on Xbox this year, despite concerns from developer Larian that the game’s release would have to be pushed back to 2024. Larian founder and CEO Sveve Vinke wrote on Twitter that a solution has been found that will allow the game to release on Xbox Series X and Series S this year.

Split-screen co-op play has been one of the problems for Larian: the studio couldn’t seem to get the mode to work on the Series S’s less powerful hardware at the proper level.

Earlier this month, Larian’s publishing director Michael Douse tweeted that Baldur’s Gate 3 is unlikely to be released on Xbox this year because Microsoft is requiring full feature parity between the Xbox Series X and Series X versions.
Despite Douse’s comments, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said that feature parity is not really a requirement, and that he «doesn’t see a world» in which the Series S will have to skip some games.
And that’s not the case.
