AYANEO launched Pocket ACE portable gaming console

AYANEO reaffirms its leadership in the retro gaming console segment with the introduction of its new Pocket ACE model. The device occupies an intermediate position between Pocket Micro and Pocket S, but its performance is not inferior to its larger counterparts.

The console has a 4.5-inch LCD display with a 3:2 aspect ratio that’s ideal for Game Boy Advance games and adapts comfortably to 4:3 and 16:9 formats. This makes the screen versatile for emulating both older and more modern platforms.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chip, the same one found in the Pocket EVO and Pocket DMG models. While it’s not the newest platform, it does a great job with emulation. The only downside so far is limited community driver support, but that could change as the chip becomes more popular.

The 6,000 mAh battery is a nice improvement over previous models. The Pocket Micro’s battery life was questionable, but here AYANEO has addressed the comments.

The device is already available on Indiegogo with prices starting at $339 for the 8+128GB version in Light Blade White and Shadow Dance Black colors. The retail price will be $459. The maximum Retro Power bundle (16GB + 1TB) will cost $599 for early buyers and $699 at full price. Deliveries will begin in late May.

Pocket ACE is in direct competition with the Retroid Pocket Mini and the AYN Odin 2 Mini. That said, the Retroid Pocket Mini has already been discontinued due to screen issues, which could play into AYANEO’s hands.
