Wi-Fi Alliance has officially certified the new Wi-Fi 7 wireless standard (IEEE 802.11be).
The channel width is twice that of Wi-Fi 6 at 320 MHz. Wi-Fi 7 is expected to spread quickly, with more than 233 million devices supporting the new standard by mid-2024. The latest version of Wi-Fi will be used not only by smartphones, tablets, laptops and wireless routers, but also by virtual reality devices, cars and industrial equipment supporting the Internet of Things. Wi-Fi 7 will be able to deliver maximum data transfer rates of up to 40 Gbps, nearly five times faster than the previous version.
