The new Ray-Ban Meta* failed the AI demo at Connect 2025

The Meta* Connect 2025 conference started spectacularly, with Mark Zuckerberg taking the stage wearing the new Meta* Ray-Ban and switching the broadcast to «the view from his eyes» through the glasses’ display. By the final show, however, confidence had been replaced by disappointment — the novelty had failed all live demo tests.
The new generation of Ray-Ban Meta*

Chief among them —new Ray-Ban Meta* with a display. In addition, the regular glasses in the classic Wayfarer design have also been updated. The glasses have received:
- doubled runtime
- 3K video capture
- priced at $379, sales start today.
Another announced feature Conversation Focus, which in noisy places amplifies the voice of the interlocutor and muffles extraneous sounds. It will be available not only in the new glasses, but also on past Ray-Ban Meta* models via a software update.
Live AI demo: failure on stage
The main innovation was supposed to be a feature Live AI — an assistant to help the user with everyday tasks. Zuckerberg stipulated that the technology is not yet ready to work all the time and is limited to «an hour or two at a time».

During a demonstration, a chef asked Live AI to help make sauce for a Korean steak. The assistant’s response was unconvincing: after a long pause, it repeated the same —«You’ve already mixed the basic ingredients» without giving any step-by-step instructions.
The awkwardness was building: the developers cooked up problems with Wi-Fi, and Zuckerberg repeated this version several times, visibly nervous.
Total
Despite the failure of the live demo, Meta* continues to promote smart glasses as a step toward a future where wearable electronics can replace the smartphone in a number of tasks. But the presentation showed that the company’s AI assistant is still a long way off from being a sure-fire AI assistant.
