New accessory kit for Honor Magic 8 Pro turns it into a compact pro camera

Honor has unveiled a new accessory kit for its flagship Magic 8 Pro, developed in collaboration with photo gear maker Telesin. Dubbed the Professional Photography Grip Kit, this setup aims to transform the smartphone’s camera experience into something more akin to handling a compact professional camera. Until now, only the Porsche Design version of the Magic 8 Pro had an official accessory package like this – the standard Magic 8 Pro was left out in the cold.

The Magic 8 Pro itself is already seriously packed on the camera front: it sports a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens alongside a 50-megapixel main shooter with an f/1.6 aperture. Hardware-wise, that’s more than enough to satisfy most users. But this new kit changes how you interact with those powerful cameras, emphasizing tactile control over touchscreen taps.

At the core of the kit is a special protective case that supports standard 67mm screw-on filters. This opens the door to using ND filters, polarizers, and other optics typically reserved for traditional cameras. There’s also a wrist strap mount and a magnetic system that lets you quickly attach and detach accessories.

The standout feature is a detachable grip that magnetically snaps onto the case. This grip adds physical controls like a large red shutter button, a zoom slider, and several customizable buttons. One button launches video recording instantly, while another can be programmed as a power key or any other function. On the front of the grip, there’s a dial for fine-tuning exposure and other manual shooting settings. Clearly, this kit caters to photographers who want that satisfying hands-on experience, not just touchscreen controls.

The kit also includes a 200mm teleconverter lens attachment, which connects via an adapter to expand the phone’s optical reach. Paired with the Magic 8 Pro’s periscope cam, this is ideal for shooting distant subjects like wildlife or sports. As with any external lenses, image quality depends on precise alignment and optical design, but theoretically, it makes the phone’s camera system far more versatile.

Honor and Telesin have started teasing this kit ahead of its full reveal at Mobile World Congress 2026, where pricing and availability across various markets will be announced.
