Xiaomi 18: leaked render and possible specs

In September, Xiaomi is expected to unveil its new flagship lineup in China, including the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max. These models will succeed last year’s Xiaomi 17 series, which launched around the same time. Well ahead of the anticipated release, a Chinese tech insider shared a render of the base Xiaomi 18 model. However, the authenticity of the image hasn’t been confirmed yet, so take the details with a grain of salt.

The leaked image shows a phone featuring a square camera module with rounded corners and a clean, minimalist design. The triple-camera setup is arranged in a triangular layout, accompanied by an LED flash and a subtle Leica branding. Overall, the design leans more towards the recently revealed Oppo Reno 15 series rather than previous Xiaomi flagships.

According to insider Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi might bump the display size from 6.3 inches on the Xiaomi 17 to 6.4 inches on the new model. This slightly larger screen would free up more internal space for enhanced hardware.

With this in mind, the Xiaomi 18’s battery capacity is expected to surpass its predecessor’s 7,000mAh battery. The phone is also rumored to be powered by the next-gen flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset.

The same source revealed that the entire Xiaomi 18 lineup will sport a periscope telephoto camera with an impressive 200-megapixel sensor. This means even the base Xiaomi 18 might get this advanced zoom lens. The primary camera is likely to remain at 50MP, paired with a 50MP ultra-wide shooter. Since the phone’s release is slated for later this year, it will probably come with Android 17 and the latest iteration of Xiaomi’s HyperOS skin.
