Casio launches metal G-Shock GMWBZ5000 with MIP display and solar charging
Casio has officially unveiled three metal G-Shock watches from the GMWBZ5000 series in the US, featuring a Memory in Pixel (MIP) LCD, Tough Solar charging, and a design honed with artificial intelligence.
The watches sport a stainless steel case measuring 49.3 × 43.6 × 13 mm paired with matching metal bracelets.
They come equipped with an MIP LCD offering eight display modes and wide viewing angles.
After a full charge, the battery can last up to 22 months in power-saving mode.
Three finishes and AI-driven design
The lineup includes the GMWBZ5000D-1 in silver, the GMWBZ5000BD-1 with black ion plating, and the GMWBZ5000GD-9 in gold ion plating. While preserving the iconic G-Shock aesthetic, these models feature an internal structure refined using AI.
Casio analyzed decades of G-Shock performance data to reimagine the shock-resistant design. Leveraging AI, the company engineered an expanded case that connects seamlessly with the lugs to minimize shock transmission. Inside, a resin insert absorbs impacts, maintaining durability despite the all-metal exterior.
The watches utilize a high-contrast, full-dot Memory in Pixel display to boost readability and energy efficiency. Casio offers eight display modes with two font styles, including options for dual time, date and weekday, and triple time zones. The LCD provides wide viewing angles and remains clearly visible even under direct sunlight.

Features and tech
Connectivity options include Bluetooth support via the Casio Watches app and Multi Band 6 radio signal calibration. The Tough Solar system powers the watch using ambient light, enabling up to 22 months of battery life in power-saving mode after a full charge.
Additional features include 38 world time zones, a stopwatch accurate to 1/100th of a second, a countdown timer, five daily alarms, LED backlighting, and a fully automatic calendar valid until 2099. The watches are water-resistant up to 200 meters and feature a screw-down case back for enhanced durability.
Pricing and availability
Casio has priced the GMWBZ5000D-1 at $660, while the black and gold variants retail for $720 each. All three models are available through Casio’s official US channels, select online retailers, and authorized jewelers.
Recently, Casio also introduced the premium G-Shock MRGB2100D-2A with a titanium case and Bluetooth connectivity, along with a new Baby-G series featuring pastel colors and semi-transparent straps.
