CES 2026: Startup Takway unveils AI pet Sweekar
Startup Takway, which calls itself «Nintendo of the AI robot era», unveiled a Tamagotchi-inspired virtual pet at CES 2026. The new product, called Sweekar, is designed as a personal AI companion that’s always with you and builds its own character over time.
An AI companion that’s always with you and builds its own character over time.
Sweekar — is an artificial intelligence embedded in a palm-sized pocket toy. The device is designed as a cute egg with ears and a screen instead of a face. As in the classic Tamagotchi, the pet must be cared for: feed it, play with it and pay attention to keep it happy and «healthy». Its mood and facial expressions are directly related to how well it is cared for.
Sweekar goes much further than the usual virtual pets. It memorizes its owner’s voice and activities, and becomes more independent as it matures. As it matures, it entertains itself, «goes on virtual journeys »and returns with tales of its adventures — reminiscent of digital companions like Finch.
The device will be available in pink, yellow and blue. Users will also be able to change the outer shells and buy fun accessories and costumes. Sweekar has four stages of life, and with each one, it requires less and less attention.
In the first stage, the pet is in a closed egg and goes through a two-day period of «incubation». After that, the shell «opens» and a face appears. Next, the owner must care for the Sweekar to guide it through the infant and adolescent stages. After becoming an adult, the pet begins to function autonomously, and the risk of «losing» it due to inattention disappears. Starting at level 51 Sweekar is considered indestructible — at least in the virtual sense. Of course, the device itself still needs to be charged and protected from damage.
The final price hasn’t been announced yet, but Takway expects the Sweekar to cost between $100 and $150. The company plans to launch a campaign on Kickstarter in the near future.
