Canon has announced two new cameras aimed at video content creators, the PowerShot V1 compact and the EOS R50 V mirrorless.
PowerShot V1: compact power for vloggers
PowerShot V1 has a new design optimized for both regular shooting and selfies. The camera features a 16-50mm f/2.8-4.5 fixed lens, which in video mode offers an equivalent focal length of 17-52mm because of the cropped lens.
The camera’s new design has been optimized for both regular and selfies.

The PowerShot V1’s key features:
- New 1.4-inch sensor with 22.3MP resolution
- Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system
- Built-in cooling fan for long video recording
- Usable for video calls and live streaming via USB
- Support for wired and wireless connection to smartphones via Canon Camera Connect
- Cost: $899.99
The new PowerShot V1’s new sensor is significantly larger than that of Sony’s rival ZV-1 Mark II and is roughly the size of a Micro Four Thirds sensor in terms of total area, promising better image quality than smartphones.
