The first batch of UAZ was produced in Cuba

Cuba has completed production of the first batch of UAZ vehicles assembled at a new production site organized under the scheme of large-unit assembly. As Izvestia reports, the finished vehicles have already been handed over to the first customer – one of the government agencies of the country.

The creation of the assembly plant was announced in April 2025. The machine kits come directly from Russia, and the final assembly is carried out locally with the involvement of local specialists. Production is organized according to the screwdriver technology: the main components, including the chassis, transmission and body elements, are assembled at the final stage on Cuban territory.

The project is being realized with the support of the authorities of both countries and is aimed at the development of technical cooperation. In the future, the company plans to produce up to 1,500 vehicles per year. The assembly of Russian UAZ SUVs in Cuba is seen as a step towards renewing the fleet of local government agencies and expanding the island’s transportation infrastructure.
