ATS Group of companies from Togliatti has started preparations for the production of Lada cars with propane installation.

The project expands the brand’s lineup of gas-powered models: earlier ATS was engaged in creating methane-powered bi-fuel versions for Lada Largus and Vesta. Now the company plans to bring to the market the modifications operating on liquefied petroleum gas (propane-butane). So far, specific models have not been named, but the Lada Granta is used as a test platform. The volume of the installed cylinder is 42 liters.

Alexei Suchkov, director of the ATS group of companies, said that depending on demand, the plan is to produce at least 100-200 cars per month. He noted that the market capacity has virtually no limits and will be determined by consumer interest.

The propane version will be assembled at the factory and will differ from the standard gasoline version. According to preliminary data, the price premium will be about 50 thousand rubles.

It was previously reported that the possibility of getting a methane-powered bi-fuel unit is also being considered for the new Lada Aura.
