Google has made Gemini 2.5 Pro available for free to all users — its advanced AI model previously only available to paid subscribers. The free version differs from the paid version with minor limitations in functionality.

The announcement was published on Google’s blog. The company said that Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental is now available without the need to subscribe to Gemini Advanced. However, unlike paid use, the free mode has a reduced generation speed and a reduced contextual neural network volume.

Google developers said they are working on adapting the model for smartphones, with a mobile version expected to be announced in the near future, but its cost is still unknown. The AI model is capable of processing not only textual information, but also audio, video and images.

The initial size of the neural network’s context window was 1 million tokens (about 650,000 words), but it’s not yet known exactly how much it has been cut back in the publicly available version.
