macOS Sonoma: How to set a live wallpaper

While the lock screen used to consist of a basic image displaying the macOS version, you can now replace it with any of the screensavers on offer. If you want to add more personality to your Mac’s lock screen and desktop, a live wallpaper —s a great way to do it.

How to Install macOS Sonoma Screensaver
Selecting a screensaver is similar to choosing a wallpaper. Screensavers with a moving image are labeled to distinguish them from regular desktop wallpaper. Here’s how to find and apply a screensaver.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down the menu to Wallpaper and click on it
- Find the screensaver with the Play symbol.
- Select it to make it your desktop screen saver.
- Saver Options. You can choose whether this screensaver will become the desktop background or just the background.

As with wallpapers, there are several screensaver categories to choose from. The categories to choose from include:
- Scape
- Cityscape
- Underwater World
- Earth
- Mixing screensaver options
If you don’t want to focus on any one place, you can move between locations in the last option of the «Earth» category. You can choose how often the screensaver changes: every 12 hours, a day, two days, a week, a month, or continuously.
Shuffling between categories is not possible, however. You can only move between different locations within the same category.
