Franchise creator Hironobu Sakaguchi appeared at Final Fantasy XIV FanFest playing with a special Xbox controller. The controller looks like an Xbox Elite Controller with a chatpad attached, though Sakaguchi says he removed most of the buttons so he wouldn’t press one by mistake.

Final Fantasy 14 FanFest is taking place at London’s Excel Center. Earlier this year, it was announced that the popular MMO would be coming to Xbox in 2024. According to Xbox, the Series X version of the game will support 4K graphics, while the Series X and Series S versions of the game will feature fast load times.

The extended free trial, which is available on PC and PlayStation consoles, will also be available on Xbox. This means players will be able to complete the entire base game of A Realm Reborn, as well as the first two add-ons Heavensward and Stormblood, up to level 70 with no limit on game time. After reaching level 70, players will have to pay a monthly fee to continue playing the game.

Although the game is primarily a multiplayer online adventure, Square Enix has introduced a system called Duty Support, which allows players to progress through content with a party of NPC allies instead of real players. By the time the game’s open beta launches, the Duty Support system will cover all of the main story dungeons from A Realm Reborn and the four current expansions, meaning players will be able to go through the main story content alone. The news marks the end of Phil Spencer’s long effort to release Final Fantasy 14 for Xbox consoles.
